Bedroom lighting works best when it is soft and layered, not one bright ceiling light. Here are practical ways to build a calmer room.
Use more than one light source
Combine a main light for daytime with one or two low lights for the evening. Lower light helps a room feel more relaxed at night.
Add a warm wall glow
A projection lamp can wash a wall with warm colour behind the bed or a reading chair, which gives the room depth without extra furniture. See the Sunset Projection Lamp.
Try a ceiling or wall projector for movie nights
A star or nebula projector turns a ceiling into a slowly moving scene. The Astro Star Projector has a remote so you can change modes from bed.
Choose a cordless bedside lamp
A rechargeable lamp has no cable to hide and can move between the bedside, a desk or a balcony. See the Orb Cordless Table Lamp.
Keep colours warm and dim
Warm, dim light is easier to wind down with than bright, cool light before sleep. Use brighter colours for photos or play, not for bedtime.
